It was late afternoon on a bitter cold day. Many of the students were happily sitting in front of the cosy warmth of the fire places that burned in each common room. Talking about their experiences of the day...and commenting on which professors had angered them the most by assigning lengthy essays. Their mindless chitter-chatter about the exams they would rather not revise for could be heard even through the thickest of stone walls. And the noise of the new students exploring the school...echoed through out the long corridors.
At every chance she came across Laura would leave the hustle and bussle of Silverthorn behind her. Yes it was common for Laura to take a wonder around the land surrounding the castle. She used this time to reflect on things, and gave her time to think about, her past, the present and sometimes her future. She tended not to think to much about her future as she was always liked to take each day as it came.
"Hmm," she thought "I wonder what i was doing this time last year." Laura loved to think about the times she had spent with her family..it was what got her through the day..and exspecially the night. She remembered how her and her Mother took weekly shopping trips, as Laura was always the girl in new robes and in high fashion. As she looked up to the sky she could almost see her brother flying through the air playing quiddich when they were younger.
All that seemed a million miles away as she wondered through the gardens. She looked at her hands...they had started to turn a pale blue color as it was cold and she had forgotten to bring her gloves. But she didnt mind, the smell of the roses made her feel happy....a small gust of wind swept by her feet...the last leaves to fall off the tallest tree. As she looked up snow flakes began to fall...she smiled as one fairly large flake landed on the tip of her nose. The smile didnt last long, she felt that nothing at that moment could compensate for how lonely she was feeling. Laura had no one to share her dreams with and nobody to talk to. She looked around for some comfort...."Hmmm."
